About SES Consulting Engineers

Founded in 1993, SES Consulting Engineers has spent more than three decades providing structural analysis, finite element analysis (FEA), and PE-certified engineering documentation to manufacturing and industrial operations across North America.

What began as a small structural engineering practice has grown into a specialized team focused on the equipment that keeps production lines running safely - overhead cranes, below-the-hook lifting devices, automotive assembly tooling, and the structural platforms and fixtures built around them.

Every project SES touches goes through the same process: rigorous analysis, verification against applicable industry codes, and - where required - certification stamped by a licensed Professional Engineer.

What we do

SES Consulting Engineers provides structural analysis, FEA, and PE-stamped certification across six core areas

Cranes & Overhead Lifting Systems

Analysis and certification for bridge, gantry, jib, and monorail cranes, box girders, and below-the-hook lifting devices.

Structural Platforms & Access Structures

Analysis and certification for mezzanines, platforms, crossover structures, and fall arrest & tie-off systems.

Automotive & Assembly Line Tooling

Structural analysis and certification for vehicle, drivetrain, body, and battery lift devices — plus specialized end-of-arm tooling.

Industrial Tooling & Fixtures

Analysis and certification for robot support structures, maintenance pins, and secure tooling.

Material Handling & Storage Systems

Analysis and certification for conveyor systems, storage racking, rail systems, and material transfer equipment.

Engineering Analysis & Certification

FEA, structural evaluations of existing equipment, PE certification, and prototype/design support.

Certified to ASME, AISC, CSA, ANSI, and CMAA standards - including ASME BTH-1, B30.20, AISC 360, and CSA W59

Selected Projects

A cross-section of the lifting equipment, tooling, and structures SES has analyzed and certified across industrial and automotive manufacturing

Overhead Bridge Crane Certification (Cranes & Overhead Lifting Systems)

An existing bridge crane needed structural verification before returning to service. SES performed a static FEA and issued a PE-stamped certification package confirming the system's load rating.

Standards: ASME B30.2, AISC 360

Jib Crane with Custom Lift Fixture (Cranes & Overhead Lifting Systems)

A facility needed a jib crane paired with a custom lifting fixture for a specific part geometry. SES analyzed both the crane structure and the fixture, then delivered stamped drawings and certification for the complete system.

Standards: ASME BTH-1, AISC 360

Vehicle Body & Frame Lift Device (Automotive & Assembly Line Tooling)

An assembly line needed a custom lift device to safely position body and frame assemblies at a workstation. SES ran static FEA on the tool and prepared PE-stamped certification for release.

Standards: ASME BTH-1 / B30.20, AISC 360

Engine & Battery Lift Assist Tool (Automotive & Assembly Line Tooling)

A manufacturer needed a lift assist tool rated for repeated engine and battery handling on the line. SES verified the design under static loading and delivered a certified, stamped package.

Standards: ASME BTH-1 / B30.20, ADM-1-2015

Steel Conveyor Structure Evaluation (Material Handling & Storage Systems)

An existing conveyor structure needed re-certification after years in service. SES performed a structural evaluation and capacity assessment, then issued updated PE certification.

Standards: AISC 360, CAN/CSA-S16

Steel Storage Rack System (Material Handling & Storage Systems)

A warehouse needed its storage rack system verified for a new loading configuration. SES completed the structural analysis and delivered updated certification.

Standards: ANSI MH16.1, AISC 360

Elevated Maintenance Platform Certification (Structural Platforms & Access Structures)

A facility needed a certified maintenance platform providing safe access to overhead equipment. SES completed the structural analysis and delivered stamped drawings and certification.

Standards: AISC 360, CSA W59

Robot Support Riser Certification (Industrial Tooling & Fixtures)

A robot cell required a support riser rated for the mounting loads of the equipment above it. SES ran the structural analysis and issued certification confirming the riser met the required capacity.

Standards: AISC 360, ADM-1-2015

Seismic Structural Evaluation & Recertification (Engineering Analysis & Certification)

An existing structure required updated certification to reflect current seismic requirements. SES performed the evaluation and prepared PE-stamped recertification documentation.

Standards: Applicable seismic code reference
